    Suitable for:

    Australians working in residential aged care, and community services

    Course Duration:

    4 days of workshops – virtual and face to face

    + 4 days of project work and support meetings

    To be completed across 4 months in total

    The Dementia Knowledge to Action Program develops participants to become Guides, who can lead, coach, and influence within their care settings. They work directly with your teams to enhance dementia practice at the point of care. By investing in a Guide who can implement rapid change and improvement, your organisation can become a preferred care provider for families and carers of people living with dementia.

    Eligibility


    To be considered for the program, organisational management are required to meet with the DTA management team to complete a short readiness assessment. Upon successful completion they will nominate participants to join the program.

    To be a Dementia Guide, eligible participants must be nominated representatives working with people living with dementia in a professional capacity.

    Course components


    Delivered over a 4-month period and participants are required to complete the following components:

    • E-Learning introductory courses
    • Enhanced Dementia Workshop
    • Changed Behaviours Workshop
    • Meaningful Environments Virtual Reality Workshop
    • Leadership for Practice Change E-learning
    • Care Enhancement Workshop and Shared Understanding Webinar

    Care enhancement project


    Dementia Guides will identify an opportunity to enhance dementia care in their care setting.
    Throughout the program they will be guided to plan, implement and complete a care enhancement project.

    • Online resources hub with tool and templates
    • Communities of Practice to connect with other Dementia Guides.

    Endorsement


    The Dementia Knowledge to Action Program is endorsed annually by Dementia Training Australia. It is the first of its kind to equip Guides with enhanced skills to support staff in improving practice in the flow of care.

    Certificate of Completion


    A certificate of completion will be issued by Dementia Training Australia upon completion of the program.
