Before undertaking this module you will need to complete the following:
We begin this module by unpacking what we mean by activity and the purpose of activity in the hospital setting.
You will learn how to assess what is meaningful to the individual person with dementia and how engagement in such activities can reduce responsive behaviours and improve mood.
The module includes 20 examples of activities suitable for the hospital environment and how to identify activities appropriate to the person's abilities, preferences and personality.

Outline how the Need-driven Dementia-compromised Behaviour model (NDB) can be used to derive effective activity prescription

Recognise that recreational and social activity is an efficient strategy to reduce anxiety and enhance mood and well-being for some people with dementia

Identify some activity resources appropriate to the hospital setting

Learning with DTA
Online courses contain modules that have been grouped together based on their topic area. Each module within a course must be completed and in the defined order.
Modules can be completed individually and in any order. You may choose to complete any module, based on your areas of interest.
Some modules may have prerequisites. If a module has a prerequisite you’ll need to complete that first to ensure you have the essential prior knowledge required. Modules with a prerequisite will be clearly marked.
A Certificate of completion is awarded on successful completion of a DTA course or module. You may use this certificate toward your Continuing Professional Development (CPD). Access your Certificates in your Dashboard.
