This module has five sections:
Anxiety and depression in the context of dementia
- Symptoms, consequences and assessment are described.
Cultural considerations
- This section focuses on the cultural implications associated with caring for an Indigenous Australian with dementia.

- This section introduces Ronnie who is experiencing depression.

Interventions for anxiety and depression
- In this section you will learn about some specific measurement tools and a range of interventions.
Case study part 2
- Ronnie's story continues and culturally appropriate interventions are explored.
Learning Outcomes
On completion of this module you should be able to:

Outline the key elements to include in the assessment of a person with mood and/ or behaviour suggesting an underlying depression, or possibly comorbid anxiety

Use the NDB model and case study to suggest probable consequences of depressed or anxious mood

Select evidence-informed interventions to address behavioural changes related to depressed or anxious mood

Outline the key approaches to consider when caring for someone from an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background
